Today V and I went to play golf with Bo! I never had the desire to play golf until after high school, and then no opportunities came along - until now! I actually really like golf, and I didn't have as much trouble swinging as my mom said I would. GOLF GLOVES ARE COOL!! I think I've found a new hobby. I might be a natural, but I'm worried that next time I go I'll find myself much more frustrated. I guess there's only one way to find out! I'm not so good, however, at putting. But it was tons of fun anyway.
We had a late lunch at Gogo Cafe and then went home. I caught the Warriors game, but kind of fell asleep during the 2nd quarter. Albert came over to exchange gifts! And it was a good game anyway, Randolph was on fire! I actually didn't get to finish because Bo and Charles showed up, and then we went to Yan's! Mary and Patrick have a nice setup, and the food was pretty good. I'd totally hang out there for HH, and I think they'll do well. I had such an eventful Monday!

(Goodbye) Seattle - Day III
Our last day in Seattle! Menie and I had viet sandwiches and Charles had Panera on the way to Kent. We watched Avatar in IMAX 3D and it simply blew my mind (this was my first IMAX experience). The movie was ridiculously well done, I felt like I was really IN it. The graphics and animation were out of this world! Also, we were the only non-whites in the theater, which was awkward having grown up in SF.
We went to Joey's in Tukwila afterward for dinner. Good fish tacos! I wish we had one of those here, I'd be there for HH always. The decor is awesome - think vessel, but on a MUCH grander scale and a tiny bit more casual. It's almost tragic that the restaurant doesn't turn into a club at night.
The check-in at the airport was a zoo, and we had to wait in a long line. The security check though, fortunately, was much faster this time. The flight home was "open seating", which is a new concept for me. Good thing it wasn't a full flight, V and I got to sit together!
When we got back to OAK, it was an adventure. I've only taken BART once, and I didn't even know how to buy the ticket. I got off at Civic Center, not realizing that it opens onto the ghetto area of Market. I ended up walking home because there weren't any buses or cabs along the way, and I wasn't sure if it was safer for me to wait around. I won't be flying into OAK ever again at night, unless someone picks me up.
Overall, I think Seattle was a great trip, and I had a fantastic Christmas. It was wholesome, chaotic, and loads of fun with excellent company. Many memories and running jokes have stemmed from this weekend, and I'm glad I spent it with these fools. What a nice way to end 2009. =)

Seattle - Day II (Saturday)
At around noon, we eventually crawled out of bed for some serious shopping! While we were waiting to leave, V and I were practicing being snakes and koalas on Menie's staircase.
The expedition started at Bellevue Square, and Menie kept missing the exit so we took the scenic route. Seattle seems to have a lot of tunnels, lots of opportunities for making wishes! We were at Bellevue for two hours, and V and I bought things we probably shouldn't have. But hey, we're on vaca! Charles was looking for a gift, but didn't find it. While V and I were waiting, we took some pictures at this cool Christmas setup in the mall!
Later, we headed to The Bravern, which is an upscale high-end retail center almost more pretentious than Santana Row. We did a walk through for another hour of shopping and decided to head back to the house for a nap. I have to say, that customer service in Seattle is superb - at least from what I've seen thus far. The staff that I encountered pretty much everywhere was friendly and helpful, even moreso than I've seen in SF!
We went to Samurai Noodle in Asia-town for dinner. Apparently, Chinatown, Koreatown, and Japantown are all in one area in Seattle? Anyway, the ramen wasn't bad - we were skeptical at first but we ended up enjoying our meal! We got dessert afterward at a Chinese bakery down the block, that was a nice treat.
When we got back to the house again, we sat at the table and just talked while enjoying sangria. I ended up needing to take a nap, and when V and Menie came upstairs to wake me up, Suie and Lorine were already downstairs. In my groggy state, I put my hand out to tell V to SNOOZE, and I accidentally poked her in the nose LOL. I did the same to Menie, but I knocked her over instead because she was making ridiculous alarm sounds.
The main event of the night was R Place, bar/club with three floors and fantastic decor. The music was excellent, they played everything we wanted to dance to and never repeated a song! The crowd was lively and gave off a really positive vibe, everyone was just having a good time. We met a bunch of new gay friends and had a blast dancing with them. I also fell in love with a gay go-go dancer - he was gorgeous. We were dancing for 3 straight hours, and I had a really great time. I'm so glad they dragged me out of bed! Club pictures in the next post, maybe!

Hello Seattle
I am an albatross... (and V is a manatee).
We flew out of SF on Christmas Eve, and our flight was delayed two hours. This travel experience was kind of odd for me - the mildly-attractive Asian guy in front of me at the security gate promised me that he wouldn't steal my shoes, and then the TSA agent made an inappropriate joke when I passed through the metal detector. It was confusing. I was tired. I got some GMAT studying done while we waited for our flight, and when we got to Seattle it was 33 freakin' degrees. On the plane, I tried to get Charles to tune into the classical radio station so I could show him my air-instrument playing, but when he realized what I was doing he neglected me. I get so restless on airplanes!!
Menie picked us up in her safari-mobile, and we were IN AWE at its awesomeness. We got back to the house and had Tuna Helper and sausage with pasta (wine too). We were famished! We did gift exchange before sleeping, and I think everyone loved what they got =) My secret santa was Menie, and she got me a super cute Juicy necklace and a purple planner!!
Friday (Christmas day) we made a Safeway run and then ate dim sum down the block, in the ghetto. The food wasn't bad but the neighborhood was kind of sketchy. There was a guy selling chain necklaces in the parking lot. LOL. On another note, I think I like chicken feet! We got some Tully's coffee afterward, and then picked up Finding Neverland at Hollywood Video.
Then, we walked around downtown for a bit and took pictures before the movie.
We ended up watching It's Complicated. Meryl Streep is an amazing actor, and I was really touched by the movie. There were LOTS of funny moments, like when they were smoking pot - they were almost TOO convincing. The movie theater was in a mall, and they had cool Nutcracker statues. We found a girl!
We headed home for dinner and started getting things ready. Menie did most of the cooking but we all helped with the prep, like elves! There was also lots of drinking of the wine, and karaokeing with the ipod. Almost two hours later, our dinner was amazing! We had salad, Cioppino with cheesy bread and RACKS of lamb. Everything was delicious and I could barely finish my food. Menie is an fantastic cook!!
Suie convinced us to go clubbing, and we ended up going to Ibiza. It was a nice venue, but it wasn't very crowded - I guess Seattleans don't party on Christmas. We had fun anyway though, and someone drank too much and got kicked out by the owner LOL, I won't say who but it wasn't me! We got back and we all were a mess (as was the house). Everyone passed out but I woke up randomly at 4 something in the AM and felt like cleaning. What an ACTION-PACKED Christmas!! Super fun and very merry. So many memories =) Oh, and we also did a photo shoot before we went clubbing. LOL.
Stay tuned, the weekend has just begun...

Crossovers & Cantinas
Yesterday, I got to see the 2010 550 Gran Turismo. It's the mother of all crossovers, and it's a massive, gorgeous, thing. I'd totally be a soccer mom with that bad boy.. and it has both a trunk door AND a hatchback. Ingenious. There's just something about Euro headlights that make me salivate...
After work was Huey's birthday in SJ. We went to D&B first, and it was PACKED. There were 30+ people waiting around the bar and only 2 bartenders. They could definitely maximize profits by being better staffed. Well, whatever, we left after playing a few games. I had requested that we go somewhere "ghetto" because I missed raunchy club music, and I guess I should have been careful what I wished for. We went to Tres Gringos which is a Mexican Cantina, and it must have been the slum of downtown San Jose. There was a burrito place open on the way back to the car, so we stopped there. Anyhow, I had fun singing along to the radio in the car, and the night was amusing if nothing else.

Leaps & Bounds
Tonight I took one of my friends to dinner as a belated birthday gesture, I've been busy and wanted to do this before my vaca. I'm SO glad that I did. We've known each other five years now, and he's always been there for me - especially through 2008, when I needed it most. This year, his life took a turn for the worst, and he's been through hell. I think losing a loved one is at least a devastating experience, and losing two in one year - well that's hard to even comment on. That was only the beginning.
He dealt with his problems with drugs to "forget", so this year made his habits much worse. As a friend, I couldn't do much aside from checking on him, and making sure that he kept his life on track. He never fell behind, but I could tell that he was losing his soul. I was there for him, but I never knew how else to help aside from support. He was exhausted, stressed out, confused, and barely holding on at times. His only escape was drugs.
I don't think I can find words that do the feeling justice - the feeling of seeing him turn around completely and become TRULY happy. He's been clean for weeks, is looking healthy and rested. He's found a love interest with potential, and has finally pulled himself completely out of the gutter. Things are going well for him at work, and he's resolving other issues in his life. He joined a gym, and really just seems like a much happier person.
Thinking about how far he's come is really touching. And I'm just so ridiculously happy for him. I always thought that my 2008 was bad, perhaps even the worst of anyone I knew. But I know for a fact that he's gone through worse this year, and he recovered from such a huge fall so very gracefully. Seeing this transformation is one of the best feelings ever. I'm not a religious person, but it just feels right to end this with an amen. SO, amen.

Spontaneous Shopping & Santa (Ramen), ETC.
I recruited two gay boys, Andy & Kevin, to accompany me to Hillsdale in search of my New Years dress! We ate at Santa Ramen first and it was good, as expected. Then we proceeded to Nijiya for some ALOE DRINK! Ohh aloe, it's been too long..
Shopping went well, I ended up letting a gay employee at Express choose my dress because the boys were taking forever. A dress that I REALLY liked at Guess wasn't available in my size...sad panda. Side note: leave it to Kevin to try on heels at Guess. Oh god, those two were a handful. But all in all, I wasn't COMPLETELY satisfied with my new dress so...
Serramonte for more shopping! I bought a bunch of other items at the new store, and a jacket from Forever. I decided I should stop there, because I'm close to maxing out my credit card! All of the holiday travel arrangements are definitely adding up..
Later, I caught an HH date @ Palomino with Bo and Charles. We ate, drank, and were merry, and along the way decided to watch Avatar! First we went to Century 20 - sold out. Then we went to Metreon - sold out. I demanded that we watch a movie anyway! And Bo chose The Blind Side, such a great decision.
The movie was fantastic! Sandra Bullock did an amazing job playing her I-get-what-I-want role, and also exuding the commendable Christian efforts of the real woman who helped Oher. I didn't realize that this was a true story until the very end, and it made all the difference. THERE *IS* GOOD IN THIS WORLD!

Spontaneous Santouka & Santana (Row)
Spontaneity! Charles picked me up from work today, and then we went straight to SJ to meet Nicole, V, and Huey at Santouka! It's a ramen stand inside of a Japanese market - but this has its pros:
1. Huge parking lot
2. No waiting for a table
3. Efficient service, quick food prep
The food was amazing, I can't find the words. Magic in your mouth!! Their noodles were PERFECT, as was the soy broth - better than Santa Ramen and WELL worth the drive.
At some point we decided to go to Santana Row. At Nicole's, I borrowed a top and flats and then we hung out a bit to discuss the Seattle dilemma. Looks like Seattle may be a no-go, because of the chance of snow. Things are still up in the air..
Anyway, we went to Burberry and Gucci when we got to Santana Row. The things I'd buy if I were rich! First we hit Straits, but wanted to see other places so we went to V-Bar and Blowfish. V-bar was really chill and we were lucky enough to get a table as we walked in. Blowfish has YUMMY sushi!! Oi shi! And I liked my Hawaiian-themed drink. It was called Sweet Leilani.
This curly sugar thing came on Charles's dessert - I ate it. MMMM
Ramen and Santana Row was LOTS OF fun! We must go back! =)

Ice Skating & Vessel
I finally went ice skating! Wicked Wednesday! Union Square! That's the first time I've ever skated there, I'd always gone to Yerba Buena or the Embarcadero in the past. Anyway, I drank too much after work on Wednesday and ALMOST stayed home, but Bryant picked me up on his bike, WHICH WAS FUN!!! I felt like I was in a video game, and now I want a motorcycle again - although I'd be much more of a conservative rider.
So where were we.. oh yes! The ice skating! V held my hand in the beginning, but eventually we let go. Even though I was fine skating by myself, it was more fun holding V's hand! Is that weird? Also, the neighbors are ridiculously good at ice skating - like Dominus can ice skate backward... damn them...
Later, V and I stopped skating to chat/break, and while we were looking over the edge of the rink we spotted steaming tubs. V starts hobbling sideways screaming "HEY, HEY, HOT WATER!" like a little girl, and unbeknownst to her, she hobbles right into a couple's romantic moment (they were making out). HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, total highlight of the night. It all happened so fast, I couldn't stop her, I could only gawk and enjoy.
Then last night, we went to Vessel, and there was an open vodka bar. Our first order was a round of Redbull vodkas, and it was funny because no one had realized that we would get charged for the Redbull. Needless to say, the rest of the night consisted of cran-vodkas. Yeah! And we ended the night with McDonalds. AND I am also a duck.

I Heart My Job
I don't know very many people who can honestly say that they love their jobs, but I know that without a doubt that I freakin' do. Why? Let's take JUST today for example:
1) My co-worker was standing opposite me at the counter during his lunch - it's about a foot and a half wide, so with him being directly in front of me we weren't far apart. So he looks me and asks "Can I have a kiss?", and I look at him, then I look sideways (I do this when I don't understand), and then I look back - to see if he's serious. His face hasn't changed, and he's still staring at me waiting. And I'm like, "WHAT?" (he's gay), and then I realize that there's a bag of chocolate kisses under the counter. I think that was one of the most awkward moments of my life, but definitely the most comical one. I wish I could have seen my face. We both cracked up instantly, and he was like, "can you imagine, if you had leaned over I don't know what I would have done" HAHAH but I reassured him that I WAS NOT going to give him a kiss LOL I was just SOOOO CONFUSED!
2) One of the service writers had helmet hair from hell, ALL DAY, and couldn't get it to temper down for the life of him LOL. There was a straight-standing tuft on one side of his head and we couldn't help but laugh because it was just so ridiculous-looking. Think: HORTON HEARS A WHO!
3) At closing, the sound system and DVD player need to be shut off - they're both located in the attic where it's dark. So I guess the jackass techs were tidying up earlier in the day and decided to pose the mannequins like real people. OMG SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!! One of them was hangin' out behind the staircase, and the other one was sitting across, leaning forward, with his elbows on his knees. I have to admit, they did a really good job...
Don't get me wrong - we're serious and we do work hard, but moments like these make me wonder if I'll ever find a job I love more than this one. My co-workers are awesome, enough said.

Productivity Objectives
I will make better use of my time by re-prioritizing my life. By waking up earlier (before 10:00A, preferably at around 9:00A), I will be able to sleep earlier than the usual 2:00A. I'll then also have more time to run errands, study, and eat a healthy breakfast, perhaps even hit the gym (that's a long shot).
Even though I don't function well in the AM's, I think I can learn to. Right now is the perfect time to experiment with being a "morning person", and what better opportunity to become a whole new me - I know there is room for improvement.
My goals:
1.Study at least 10-20 pages per day
2.Limit my Heroes/series watching to 3 episodes per day
3.Go to the gym during downtime
The hope here is that I'll be staring at my laptop screen less, and doing more with my life.

3.Go to the gym during downtime
The hope here is that I'll be staring at my laptop screen less, and doing more with my life.

Dog Dream
Last night, I dreamt that I had a cute little teacup dog with short white hair and it was soooo cute and obedient and fun. I brought it everywhere (I'd do this if I had a real dog) because it fit in my purse and I loved it soooo much! At some point, I turned the dog over and realized that its stomach had been sutured with green velvet ribbon. I freaked out and asked my mom what happened, and she explained that she'd sewn it up.
So I undid the ribbon and THERE WAS A HEALED GASH DOWN THE ABDOMEN - an opening where you could reach in and access vital organs! It was horrifying, and very sad. I was really upset..
At the end of the dream, my brother cooked and ate my dog.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charles's Birthday Weekend
Charles's birthday consumed both Friday and Saturday this weekend. On Friday we went to Suppenkuch, which I was really excited for! But the wait was unwaitable and we decided to eat across the street. I've got to go back for some German goodness! And I will definitely order beer in one of those barbaric mugs. It was also the night of the Hayes Valley Block Party and the Creme Brulee cart was out! But we didn't have time...
Saturday dinner was at Osha, quite a production. The party favors were signs of Charles's caricature face HAHA. Lots of people and photographs and fun! Afterward we went to Circa which was an older crowd than I remember, but there were enough of us younger folk to make it exciting. Drinking and dancing - great night to catch up with old friends. Later, Charles secretly vomited in Huey's car and didn't say anything until the next morning HAHAHA. What a sneaky bastard..
I'm approaching the halfway mark in my second GMAT book, so if I keep this up I'll be ready for the exam right around the end of January - a few weeks late but I must finish my prep!

Community
After watching bits of Community on Alex's blog, I finally caught up with the first 9 episodes - THE SHOW IS FREAKIN' HILARIOUS!! My favorite scene thus far is when Troy flips out..
Starts at 1:00 in this:
I can't get over the line "THERE'S SO MUCH DUST IN HERE!!" I saw this episode days ago and I still laugh when I think about it - this moment among others. Ah, such a great series.

Girls Who Stare At Shrimps
T-day dinner was great! Turkey thighs (sweet sweet dark meat), marshmallow sweet potatoes, chicken-heart stuffing, and thick gravy - faves. My mom did a fantastic job! Her Sifu and a Taichi master from Beijing joined us, so I couldn't partake in the Mandarin table talk. But it wasn't so bad, I was busy gorging..
I'm staying at Bryant's while he's in NY, and I'm shrimp-sitting! Well, technically, I'm tending to both aquariums, but the shrimpies are far more interesting than the fish. I never realized how much maintenance saltwater tanks require in order to maintain a proper environment - meticulous to say the least.
I like to stare for half-hours at a time. These are "sexy" shrimps because they gyrate their booties all hypnotic and such. The shrimpies fight each other (and the hermit crabs) over food pellets, and when they eat, their antenna-like appendages vibrate frantically! With cute little legs to grab pellets from me like BABIES, I just can't get enough of these curious creatures.

Poppin' Buttons & Being Thankful
I hit the gym last night, and ran extra hard. Why? On Tuesday when I put my jeans on, the button popped off - I was befuddled. 'Twas the first time, and the last. I will end this madness!
Also, as I'm not a person who lives beyond her means, this month will be a test. Going halfsies on a 50" tv with my bro and dirt bike class has blown one of my paychecks out the window. Another paycheck will go to bills and gifts. Needless to say, there will be no BF shopping, and no excessive spending on alcohol! I love my job, but if I can't pick up full-time hours soon I'll be looking elsewhere. Perfect time to get back into shape and study hard..
And Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for my friends, family, health, and awesome life. Though I still have wants (money/fame/boys), I have no complaints! Happy T-day to you all, you fat bastards.

Dirt Biking!!!!
Today, my co-workers and I did Rob Rickert's Dirt Bike School in Rancho Cordova! It was crazy fun, and exciting, and I learned a WHOLE lot. Prior to this, I'd made many inconsistent attempts at riding street bikes, and eventually sold my Ninja (Tyson) because of lack of dedication to practice. Now I'm a million times more confident, and have mastered shifting. I love shifting, it's probably my favorite part of riding! I had some trouble braking initially, because I freak out and grab a shitload of handbrake, but I learned how to counter this - by pulling in my clutch lever at the same time. I did so much better than I thought I would, and was able to ride a bike with only one foot on the ground (ever).
The coaches were fantastic, and super funny. They were making jokes the whole time and I felt way more relaxed at this class than at my first MSF Street course years ago. The weather ended up being perfect, and it couldn't have gone any better. I had a freakin' blast, and I can't wait to go back for more. Dirt bikes are like ATV x200!! And I REALLY LIKE ATV'ing!!

Hot-Pot Pot Luck
Last night Annie did hot-pot for her birthday, and it was de-licious! Her spicy broth was better than any restaurant hot-pot I've ever had. mMm shitake mushrooms and udon and semi-raw beef =) The cake was yum also - and garlic shrimp chips!
The boys were playing Wii Mario Brothers and shrieking with excitement. The idea of having four people play one level and requiring them to coordinate to survive is ingenious. Introducing that idea has really taken a classic game to a whole new level.
We were also playing a ridiculous version of ro-sham-bo, in which the winner of each round predicts the direction the loser's head will go. This is SO FUNNY when people are drunk, OMG, that might have been the best part of the night. There were card games and other drinking games happening at the same time, I love partying at Annie's house!
Later in the night, Sterling was giving Perry a massage, and V and I put garbage into his pant leg without him noticing. We managed to get two plastic forks, two beer bottle caps, one water bottle cap, a lighter, and a marker in there! I'm so tired from laughing and drinking and having too much fun that I didn't wake up in time to go with them to the motorcycle show =( But what an awesome night, I can't wait to see the pictures!

Night Terrors
So I stayed up hell-of late last night looking at emergency readiness kits, actually until 4:00AM, and two hours later I'm up again after a TERRIFYING nightmare.
I was at Disneyland for some massive ball-like event. Everyone was fancily glad, mostly in black, like they were going to a very sophisticated show. The lights in all of the buildings were soft yellow (just like at Davies Symphony Hall). Everyone I knew from high school was there, and I most specifically remember seeing Anna T., Lisa W., and Lisa P. I was actually WITH V and Jon and Alex watching an interactive opera show? Until it was interrupted by blood-curdling screams and masses of people scattering everywhere. When the crowd cleared, there were dead bodies on the floor with stab wounds. I actually never saw the bodies but I could see everyone around me freaking out.
So we were corralled within our areas as they didn't want the murderer to escape. But because we were at DISNEYLAND, there wasn't enough staff to protect us, and there were just SO MANY PEOPLE! WE DIDN'T KNOW WHO THE KILLER(S) WAS/WERE! And now I'm walking around all paranoid-like, and they're ushering us into some sort of cafeteria area... where we stumble over MORE BODIES!!! OMG!!! And again I don't see the bodies, but I know exactly what my friends are looking at.
The paranoia is nerve-wracking, and I'm closely monitoring the motions of anyone who comes within our vicinity. I eventually need to go to the restroom (surprise surprise) and on the way I see my friend Lisa W. and I'm like "hey your dress is cute" yadda yadda. Then some black girl pushes Lisa W. and tries to elicit a response by badgering her. Lisa's face is frozen with shock. As soon as the girl leaves the corridor, Lisa W. reveals that the girl was actually a football player I went to high school with. We part ways, but I enter the bathroom still distracted and confused.
By this time I had either left V, Jon and Alex behind, or had lost them in the crowd. My friend Lisa P. is in the bathroom, and we say hi briefly but she's apparently consumed by the conversation she's having with her boyfriend and isn't paying too much attention. I, for some reason or other, leave my stall door open (??) while I sit down, and I see this crazed Italian looking guy with Wario hair sneak up and sidestep into my stall without realizing that I'm there. Yes, this is a very long and narrow stall, and the bathroom is dark. So I watch as he's crouching low looking outward toward Lisa, and he pulls out a ridiculously triangular knife, and I KNOW he's getting ready to stab her!!!
I realize that if I yell out to warn her, he will kill me. If I let him kill her, he'll probably flee immediately. I decide to let him kill her, or maybe I'm just too hesitant to act, but he lunges towards the opening of the stall and I know he's ready to pounce. At that last SPLIT second I scream "LISA!!! WATCH OUT!! THE KILLER!!" And the fucking scary ass Wario guy turns and looks at me and says, "You know, now that you've done that, I won't have a job" and I'm sitting there in a silent panic just staring back at him.
Then he asks, "You won't tell anyone, will you?" in an eerily endearing tone while he strokes the knife. I tell him "NO NO I WON'T TELL, I WON'T" but he answers, "But how can I trust you..." And so this madman steps toward me with malicious intensity. I'm praying that Lisa will kick him from behind and then we can both assault him, but she either is still on the phone or has left the bathroom. So - I'm this dark, narrow, stall, about to get sliced up by this psycho and abruptly I wake up.
Now I'm too scared to go back to sleep, I don't want to die. I'm so screwed for work in a few hours. See, in this situation, things would have gone MUCH DIFFERENTLY, had I had a handgun.

California Carry Gun Law
Two years ago, had I known that I could CARRY MY GUN legally in this lovely state, I would have gone through with the license test and purchased a sweet little Sig Sauer P238. Now I'm sort of beyond the whole firearm phase, but even still it tickles me to know that IF I WANTED TO, I could carry a weapon, as long as it is holstered, unloaded, and NOT concealed. That would look so badass with my Stetson. Why would I conceal it??

The Realist: My Views On Life
Your deeds comprehensively shape who you are, and if you live life honestly (being true to yourself and others) and without regret, you will be at one with yourself upon the final hour.
We each only have ourselves - we each can only trust ourselves. More importantly, we each are the ONLY ones responsible for making the choices that allow us to live fulfilling lives.
Being the best person you can be, and cherishing EVERY moment as it comes - taking all of life's turmoil and drama, and using it to re-create an improved "you" is how we can all become whatever it is we want to be.
The fact of the matter is you that don't get things done by dwelling on mere thought. Being happy, finding passion, loving more and hurting less, are all innate. The key is to stop thinking, and start doing - then life will never have been more simple.

My New Hair-Do
Today I was a hair model for a cutting class with Garret H. and now I've got this fantastic haircut which I LOVES! He does hair for the guy from Million Dollar Listing, and I know why - because he's awesome! My hair feels SO light, and the layers are much more aggressive than I've ever had before. I was fed, given free hair products, and now I feel like a celebrity with my new hair =) AND THEN I ate Katanaya with Julian after. BLISS!

Backstreet's Back, ALRIGHT!
My GOD, I love the 90's. Or more specifically, I LOVE 90'S MUSIC! We went to Club 1994 for Mel's birthday at 111 Minna last night, and it was a super-fun blast from the past. I dressed like Steph Tanner: a 90's-esque t-shirt with a destroyed denim skirt and leggings with Chucks! When the deejay played I Want It That Way, the crowd went wild. I really wouldn't have minded hearing the WHOLE Millennium album... but at least they played BSB's best song. There was also Mm Bop, No Scrubs, Ride It, If You Wanna Be My Lover and a whole bunch of other GOODIES! Chad and I were talking about the first albums we ever bought, and mine was totally SPICE WORLD haha. Oh, the 90's. Good times...

Goin' Gaga
Okay, I'm not really a Lady Gaga fan, but somehow I JUST CAN'T STOP watching this video! I really like the lyrics and I LOVE THE bear rug getup she has on at 3:44. Actually, I love all of the outfits. The dance she does during the chorus is so cutesy - this video is JUST SOOOOOO FUN!

CSI Crossover: Las Vegas "The Lost Girls"
So - the conclusion was, well, conclusive, and heart-warming. AWWWW I'm such a sucker for happy endings <3
There was a reference to the "hoe-vine", through which tricks on the Vegas strip stay in contact with one another. I guess technology is the enabler of things we don't even realize, AYE?

CSI Crossover: NY "Hammer Down"
I like good people. I think it's f'd that the witness who stopped to help at the collision was car-jacked, shot, and left to die. It's so depressing because things like this probably happen.
The WWII heart-to-heart moment between Mac and Morpheus was lame. In the junkyard scene, I saw a Ford Probe - my first ride! OH and Morpheus's rotund ass on the dirt bike, and then with the shotgun..WTF! THAT STILL DOESN'T MAKE HIM COOL!
Although Bruckheimer does a good job connecting these two segments, I didn't enjoy tonight's - much to do with doc Morpheus and his bad acting. I hope tomorrow's LV conclusion will make me happy again. GIVE US JUSTICE!

CSI Crossover: Miami "Bone Voyage"
http://www.cbs.com/csicrossover/video/?vs=Full%20Episodes
Poor Ashley Tanner... the BFT reenactment in the intro was horrifying, her head beaten like a pinata. I learned a new word: "pandering" which essentially means sex-trafficking - the irony is that it looks and sounds like "panda". It was great to see a familiar face - Mr. Cole, whom I recognize from Prison Break. I think casting him as the celebrity butcher was a good call. But then, I found it odd watching Morpheus play the role of a doctor. I don't normally watch CSI but apparently he's a member of CSI:LV. There were no red or blue pills.
I think the whole "cross-over" thing is an interesting concept, and I can't wait to see how well they can tie the three shows together. The next segment is Wednesday, until then -

Truth in Metric
"Get hot, get too close to the flame,
Wild, open, space.
Talk like an open book,
Sign me up
Got no time to take a picture - I'll remember someday
All the chances we took,
We're so close, to something better left unknown..
We're so close, to something better left unknown..
I can feel it in my bones"
- Metric, Gimme Sympathy
The fragmented ideas that are embedded within the somewhat-nonsensical lyrics of Metric's album (Fantasies) strike me as deeply profound, but often I cannot put my finger on exactly what it is that captivates me. All I know is that I'm good at getting "too close to the flame", and at times I wish I could "talk like an open book". I feel like I've experienced the notion of getting "so close, to something better left unknown" too many times for my own good, and when this happens I definitely "feel it in my bones". I guess the most prominent personal connection here is in the identity.
The conscious naivety in the diction is perplexing, and it teeters on the edge of the grasping for your idea of perfect happiness without knowing exactly what it is you seek. The danger here, is realizing that what it is you've been reaching for is not what you really wanted, or ever will want. Or perhaps even realizing that what you've been striving for is certainly what you want, but impossible to attain. This idea is also reflected in "Gold Guns and Girls" where the phrase: "is it ever gonna be enough" is repeated consecutively. This is one of the perpetual themes throughout the album, and the album name Fantasies is very fitting.
I love music that makes me think, I love Metric.
Wild, open, space.

Bridges, Cupcakes, and Handcuffs
On Thursday at happy hour with Jon and Nick, I realized once again that I have no concept of drinking in moderation, or "sipping". We went to Ike's for a sober-up sandwich, then home. I stayed up way too late watching Fringe! Who can resist a series which is best described as Law & Order + Heroes??
I dropped B off at the Oakland airport early Friday morning then went to Hillsdale. I realized that I enjoy driving over the Bay Bridge best. OH how I miss driving back from Cal in traffic everyday and watching the ships at bay. I was SO unimpressed by the San Mateo bridge.
When I got into the mall, I was grossly surprised at how many people were waiting outside of stores for gates/doors to open.
I hit major traffic on my way back (I love SF), but luckily made it to work. Afterward, I came home to change and was off to Chris's surprise dinner at Hard Knox. Parking near Clement was such a challenge, especially because Rupert doesn't fit half of the spaces in Richmond.
I was falling asleep during dinner and the beer didn't help. Steph fed us ridiculously-good cupcakes. That didn't help either. I got super VIP parking at Supper Club afterward, but was still so exhausted that I ended up leaving early anyway. The highlight of the night HAD to be either 1) the boys trying to pole-dance, or 2)Gary getting handcuffed to the wall. Even though I got home early, I stayed up to Yelp. Damn me.
Working Saturday mornings is always somewhat of a dread. And I always eat one too many doughnuts, and drink one too many cups of coffee. Now here I am, crashing, and too drained to party on. It'll be nice though, for once, to stay in on a Saturday.

Jeri Ryan & Mariska Hargitay - YES !
Earlier I caught "Hardwired", an episode of Law & Order: SVU, my all-time fave show which I haven't seen recently. During the typical SVU courtroom scene, where the victim/witness faces the perve, I watched as the defense attorney made her case against the crazed wife and I was like.. no..is that.. wait who is that.. she looks so... 7 OF 9!!!! I can't believe JERI RYAN was on SVU! With my other fave female actress Mariska Hargitay! I'm such a nerd, but this totally MADE MY DAY. Ah, the simple things in life.
Oh and the Intel commercials were hil-a-ri-ous! The Intel geeks were trying to decide how to cut their party cake - one guy suggests that they cut the "power supply" (the cake looks like a computer chip) and the other guy throws the knife down, freaks out, and says, "why don't you just pop the balloons and spit in the punch bowl??" Primetime television is GREAT!

Milkquarious - Do the Dairy
http://www.milkquarious.com/#/rock-opera/normal-mode
I came across the new Got Milk? campaign because my co-worker saw a commercial with the cownicorn named BOVINA, which he mistakened for BOBINA (my nickname). I couldn't find the video on Youtube so I ended up on the movie website and I have to admit that this campaign is really well-done. The scenes are ridiculously entertaining, as are the costumes, sets, and songs. So satisfyingly bizarre and eccentric - my favorite scene is with the furry tumbleweed-like monsters. F'ING HILARIOUS!!!

SPORTS!!! And Halloweek!
The other day I found cat ears from a Halloween costume of four years past. And I've been wearing them since! I feel like I'd like to wear them every day.. not just during the week of Halloween.. and I especially like wearing them at work. =)
Anyway, tonight I watched the Sharks game with Alex and it went into overtime AND THEN IT WENT INTO A SHOOT OUT!!! And we won in the 6th round!!! YEAH! It was so f'ing exciting that I seriously couldn't breathe. And during the breaks we switched back to the Warriors game, which was also a pretty good game - except the Warriors lost by 1 in the end. Oy vey! But I got to see Jackson score a few points - my fave! That was three hours of professional sporting goodness. WOOT.

Feeling Like A Fatty
I went to San Tung for dinner last night, it was my first time. Everything tastes so good in that gooey fried chicken sauce, like RIDICULOUSLY GOOD! I thought the crispy part of the chicken kind of tasted like pork rinds? V did the ordering, and we also got the potstickery things and the string beans. Those were delicious too, but probably because they came into contact with that secret sauce on my plate. SO- now I've seen what all the hype is about! The only thing that didn't look so good was the peanut noodles.
And THEN the night before that, I went to Joy Sushi in San Mateo with Dom & B and I don't think they liked it. Oh well, I still like it. LOL. And on top of that, yesterday for lunch I had Little Luccas with Julian. And on top of THAT last night for midnight snack I had In & Out.
ALL OF THE EATING AND NONE OF THE WORKING OUT!!!!!! Well, at least I got some studying done.

The Yelp Effect
I was planning to sleep at midnight. I was literally ready to pass out but had the sudden urge to start a Yelp account. Two hours later, I've got 12 reviews! I don't know what it is about Yelp that is so addicting, but now I see why any given restaurant has 400+ reviews. I used to think that Yelpers were complainers, but I'm finding myself mostly rating my favorite venues and eateries. This can't become a habit, and I'm starting to think that joining Yelp was a mishap. I should have been studying!

Warriors, Indians, & Divas
Thursday night I went to Warriors vs. Hornets at Oracle and I was DELIGHTED that we won! I love when the Warriors win, even if it's just pre-season. I couldn't see who was who because we weren't lower level this time, but Henry gave me adequate updates and I enjoyed my beer and garlic fries and nachos. YUM! I think it's sad that my vision is going... and I really don't want to get glasses but I will have to eventually. I can't go to sporting events if I'm sitting far away, because it becomes a moot point. I'm excited for this season though, and am probably going to get a new jersey seeing as Jackson may not be around.
After the game I came home and watched The Kingdom before bed. I had seen it before but didn't remember too many of the details. That movie is depressing, but so deeply moving - definitely worth a second watch. That night I ended up having a nightmare about being a princess in an Indian kingdom who is sentenced to death. The kingdom, however, was a large playground with bungalows! Somehow I was able to escape and get across the street, but as it turns out, I'm stuck behind the king and queen who are sitting on lawn chairs on the sidewalk and would spot me at any moment. I don't remember the rest of the dream, but I know that's when I woke up. STRANGE!!!
Last night I went to Richard's birthday dinner at Korean Village (which I was calling Korea Town). The food was good and it was nice to see everyone, but I either had too much to eat or too much to drink because I was STUFFED. Charles gave out the most ridiculous invitations for his birthday party (1 1/2 months from now), in which I am declared the VP of Guest Inebriation. I think that's a pretty fitting role for me, and I can't wait to see how EXTRAVAGANT the 2009 Diva Edition will be.

Crustacean & Costumes
Tonight I had one of the BEST DINNERS EVER! Julian and I were browsing Urban Spoon (LOL) and came across CRUSTACEAN! We both had heard lots about the place, so we decided to go. The food was so delicious... we had Crab Puffs, Grilled Calamari, Roasted Crab, and Saigon Beef. Everything was good, even the garlic rice and Bellini Martinis! I don't usually eat crab because it requires so much effort, but this was worth it. And the bibs DEFINITELY came in handy! I can't believe we both hadn't been before, it was such a treat! We noticed that the famous neon crab sign above the elevator was dying =( and we reminisced seeing that sign as children... we're getting old. We actually did a lot of reminiscing over dinner, and I had a really awesome time catching up. The service was great, and it was much more dressy than I had anticipated - luckily we were well-dressed. Good food, good service, and great company. I had so much fun! This is now one of my fave restaurants, and I rarely LOVE restaurants.
Later on at night I was summoned for the brainstorming of Halloween costumes, and when I got downstairs Dom & B were wearing some ridiculous children-sized duck and fireman Walmart costumes - IT WAS HILARIOUS!!! I've decided to be a sailor for Halloween, and together with V (and some others hopefully) we can do the Village People theme.

Law Abiding Citizen & Becoming Wiser
I saw Law Abiding Citizen earlier tonight and I thought it was a PHENOMENAL movie. I won't spoil - I'll just say it's about a man consumed by revenge and I la-la-LOVE it. When people get what they deserve and consequences are forced upon them, it makes me feel like there is hope for righteousness. I highly recommend!
I also got my snow pants today, they fit perfectly and are super cute. I'm excited! This almost makes up for my failed Poison Ivy costume.
As for making better decisions, I resumed my GMAT studies today and I've realized that it has been at least two months (maybe three) since I've smoked a cigarette. AND I have no desire to! I also started wearing my seat belt in July, and plan to keep it up forever! ;) I'm getting older AND wiser!

Mr. Arai, Butterfly & Ivy Madness
Love this song:
Yesterday, the last descendant of the Arai family came by to visit our shop!! He is definitely a celebrity in the motorcycle industry - Arai being a top helmet producer, and the only which is still family-owned. Cool!
At night I went to Butterfly with V and Dom for Corinna's birthday. When we got there, the line was being held because they had "hit capacity". They distributed flyers for another party nearby, and I suspect it was a cunning ploy to draw support for their secondary event. We got in 30 minutes later. Corinna had a really good time, as did we.
Today I went to eat egg noodles with Dom & B in TL, and then V and I went shopping for FOUR HOURS! We were in and out of craft stores piecing together Halloween costumes. Her Indian (the feather kind) costume will be great. I, on the other hand, am struggling with my Poison Ivy costume because my plans have been foiled by the limited capabilities of fabric dye. My long green gloves and a kelly green corset are out the window! I'm out of ideas.

Bouldering & Mr. Smith's
Last night was some FANTASTIC BOULDERING FUN at Mission Cliffs! This was my first time and I guess I just hadn't ever realized how much upper body strength it takes to climb. I was able to complete the beginner sections of the rock wall, but I couldn't do much more - I need to work on my strength instead of just doing cardio at the gym. Using chalk and tape reminded me of gymnastics, oh how I miss gymnastics. The highlight of the night was when I fell off of the wall and clipped Kevin when I landed. And then he apologized for biting me, and I was like "Uh did you bite yourself? Because you didn't bite me..." and then we stood there looking for bite marks while laughing hysterically.
Afterwards, V and I went to Mr. Smith's. I had a difficult time putting on my make-up because my arms were so drained from climbing! I like the club venue, but I hate the location. And the alley where we were waiting in line smelled like a port-o-pottie. That's freakin' disgusting!!!! Other than that I had a jolly good time, and will consider going again someday.

Harmony in C (And Snow Gear)
I had a tough day today, so I bought myself new snowboarding boots and pants. They both match my board, which is a first! Alex taught me to justify buying expensive clothing by wearing an item its worth in dollars - the cost being $1 each time. Snowboard gear is a bit different though, and it's difficult to justify my 3rd pair of boots in 3 seasons. Although, in my defense, this time around I disregarded price and paid much more attention to what I REALLY want and how delicious things look. Because of this, I won't be replacing my boots or pants in a long time. See - I've found a legitimate upside to the madness of retail therapy.

Gloom, Procrastination & Dread
I'm not sure if it's the weather, or the fact that I've been listening to the Metric album on repeat - but gloom is seeping out of me.
Rain reminds me of Beyonce's Sweet Dreams:
I'm mid-way through Season 3 of 24 and still intrigued as ever. Chloe's humor makes up for the stunted momentum, and I'm excited that Sherry and Nina are back - conniving women are absolutely key. On another note, I've decided I cannot further delay my GMAT studies and have resolved to resume Monday. I have a lot of material to get through, even though I pretend like I don't. Oh math, how you vex me so.

BootieBootieBootieBootie, Rockin' Everywhere!
Last night was Chad's birthday at Bootie. My getup was not as piratey as I had visualized - corset with skinny jeans and knee-high boots. I forget who told me pirate ladies wear corsets, but I'm pretty sure they don't. I couldn't breathe normally, nor could I bend because of the boning. But aside from being restricting, it looked good. I decided not to wear an eye patch, but I did curl my hair and wear hoop earrings! On the way, Jon and I were trying to talk like pirates. THAT DIDN'T WORK OUT SO WELL but it was pretty damned funny! I had inventory at the crack of dawn this morning, and THAT didn't work out well AT ALL. I ended up only lasting three hours, the drive home was gruesome.

Spontaenous Soju & Catnapping
My friends showed up at my place and forced me out, damn them. Whenever this happens I wonder how they'll react the day I really don't come down LOL. We went to Playground where we were served corn with mayo as an appetizer, strange. The honey chicken was tasty, the potstickers were greasy. Everything seemed outrageously overpriced, but then again I don't usually eat at bars so I could be wrong. The Soju was yummy and I ended up having fun even though I started out a bit hostile.

SHARKS, SHARKS, SHARKSHARKSHARKSHARKS!
My first SHARKS game at Alex's! Hockey is A-MA-ZING!! As soon as the game started I was thoroughly captivated. I love how fast and action-packed hockey is. Fighting may be the best part, although Heatley's penalty shot was insanely INTENSE. I can't wait to go to a game, and I know there will be more hockey nights to come. Hurray for new interests, and awesome friends to enjoy them with!!
P.S. I got a chrome-splinter today at work. I think this further demonstrates how accident-prone I am. Cursed panda.

Castro Street Fair 2009
I had to choose between Bluegrass in GGP and the Castro Street fair today, luckily I chose Castro and got a little bit of country anyway! I want to learn how to line dance..
I got a sticker for making a donation! I also won a fake tattoo from the Monterey Bay Aquarium booth (the lamest prize possible). Candace won a paperweight so I took it! We had a beer each and walked around. The live entertainment was cool and the small stages were even cooler. There was a little rave area in one of the parking lots and the deejay was great! Other than being ridiculously cold today, it was a grand time!

Deeply Rooted : 5
At dinner, my mother mentioned that my great grandmother was a seamstress and she worked at a Navy uniform factory in Hawaii. Then the conversation led to counting generations - and my brother and I hadn't realized that we actually are 5th generation Americans! I thought I was 4th maybe, and my brother had always assumed that he was 3rd.
This really goes to show how little we know about our genealogy.

The Invention of Lying
I saw The Invention of Lying at a preview screening earlier, and I have to say it didn't live up to my expectations - and my expectations were low. The storyline was weak, and I only chuckled a few times (it was a comedy, right?). Not worth theatre-time, but thank goodness it was free.
OH - and, because we arrived relatively late we ended up sitting in the front row. Never again.

And the Weekend of Surprises Continues...
Today was Patrick's (surprise) birthday party. He and Mary have three well-behaved dogs that LOOOVE to play, and I LOOOOOVE dogs!! Their house was very nice and they had a covered deck which was perfect because it was about 90 degrees! MJ, Rockband, ping-pong, the pig-game, the slapping game, and Guesstures (which btw V & I are SO GOOD at together) all day and all night. Of course there was lots of food, and booze. It was an amazing time, and I feel so fat from all of the delicious eats - I think I ate most of the baked artichoke spinach dip. I love sunny days with great company. +)

Pa-Pa-Pa-Po-ker-Face
Chad came back from Oregon today! We played Cranium and poker at Brian's house, and drank and were merry. There were delicious snacks - junk food and rice krispies! Fun times drawing Sanrio characters on the table cloth, and staring wide-eyed with jaws dropped at the graphic scenes from Trainspotting. Ewan McGregor's accent is hypnotic, which reminds me I have yet to finish Long Way Down.
Today I learned that Prohibition beer is disgusting, and I have a really bad poker face. It was a surprise slumber party, but I didn't stay the night. We actually had a party planning committee meeting earlier in the week, but most of our planned activities fell through. +( Definitely a wild time anyway though - just hanging out with the people we know and love, and being ourselves. Love it! Games, alcohol, pajamas, and the homies! Does it get any better? I think not.

Dan Brown Has Got Me Again!
150 pages of The Lost Symbol in one sitting. New words: "piqued" & "redact", and the (not-s0) secret brotherhood of Masonry! Brown never ceases to amaze me with his short, suspenseful chapters and the NARROW ESCAPES he so vividly and realistically describes. I haven't been excited about books in a few months. THANK YOU DANNY!
Update [09/26]:
Finished, but will not blog about it - so as to not "spoil".

SF 49er's vs. Seahawks (GAME2)
During the game, some unfortunate drunk was carried out of our section unconscious. The seats were fantastic, Lower Boxes - behind the 49ers bench! Gorgeous weather and calm people, I hate sitting next to the ridiculously rowdy.
SIDEWAYS BRAT. Delicious! Such an exciting game, and we won!! The energy was insane, LOOK AT THAT SEA OF RED! The camera man was being pushed along the track by two assistants, no technology necessary - I thought that was comical.
How does a stadium parking lot not have section markers?? It took two hours to get home, but was well worth the trouble. All in all, a spectacular Sunday.
