Having A Go

Saturday night, Sharks beat the Avs AGAIN and won the first series!! WOOT! Watching the Sharks chuck freebies into open net was GREAT. Super excited for the second round, and will be getting a Heatley jersey sometime this week!

After the game, Kevin picked me up and we went to join Jon's birthday festivities. Pub crawl on Polk, and I saw a bunch of childhood friends from S.A.C.K. (summer camp)!!! I haven't seen them for like 10 years! It was awesome dancing with them a bit, then I went back to the guys. Overall it was a pretty good night!

Today I woke up to watch the WSBK Assen race. GREAT series of passes. Troy Corser had a nice start and ended up finishing 5th - not bad at all. It was really exciting watching the racers in front "have a go" at each other on every turn, passing and passing back. And I thought that Sharks commentators were bad, but FIM commentators are assholes too LOL.

Oh Happy Day: Sharks WIN Round 1 Game 5

Yesterday was one of the most exciting, happy days that I've had in the past two or three years. It started at work when I finished the Larsson book, and it was truly an engaging and worthwhile read. It was like 3 genres in 1: murder mystery, erotic, and drama romance. I'm definitely reading the other two in the series!

After work the awesomeness continued when Andy, Alex, and I were heading down to San Jose listening to Andy's old CD's from 2001-2005. Wow, like a time warp. It was a lot of fun to hear old jams and try and guess who sang what etc. - apparently I can't tell any of the freestyle songs apart LOL.

And then the game! OH THE GAME! It was so exciting, from beginning to end! Almost everyone there was in Sharks gear, and the arena was packed. We scored 5 times and the Avs scored nada. I've been following this series pretty religiously so the win was VERY exciting for me! Now we're leading the series and I think we can win it!!! For those few hours I was in pure bliss. Watching my boyfriend Dany Heatley in action, WOOT!!!

Andy was wearing his jersey, and during the last break he bought Alex a jersey as a belated gift. Damnit!!! I'm jealous!!! I'm going to have to buy one too!! After the game was ridiculous, all of the Sharks fans flooding the streets screaming, cheering, and honking their horns. The energy was out of this world, and I was just so HAPPY!!! I'm super excited for the Sharks!!

We picked up Hiep, and he entertained us all the way back to SF. Never a dull moment with that guy. He groped Alex's leg in the car and I giggled LOL. Well, I thought I was cackling but Alex said I giggled. We stopped by "Holy Moly" as they call it, and then we went to Butter for more drinks. OMG chili-cheese tater tots!!! YUMS!!! And because it was Alex's birthday we got free otter pops! Alex's cake was a deep fried twinkie and OMG it was delicious. That place is fantastic, and the staff is super chill.

All in all, I had a SUPERB day. GO SHARKS!

New Clubs, New Book, New Love Interest

So! I got my new clubs last week, but didn't have time to try them between working and being bedridden for a few days with some sort of cold. Today I got a chance to break them in at the range, and MY MY have they improved my accuracy! And consistency! I'm very happy, and I can't wait to play a game! =)

I've also started a new book: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. There's a character, Annika, who has the same name as a character in the book I just finished about the dog with a human soul! Such a coincidence. Anyway, this one seems promising, I loves me some murder mystery.

And my new love interest, is me. I've decided to focus on myself - to get more reading done and maybe learn something new or start working out again. Definitely working on the golf game! I want to be passionate about something, for once in my life.

Dog Life

This week I started The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, and the more I read, the more I like. When Bryant first showed me the book, I thought it was the most ridiculous idea ever - a novel from the perspective of a dog? As it turns out, this POV is the perfect device for commentary on human nature and society. The author also expertly implements witty humor and simple moments that only dogs take time to appreciate.

Because people generally speak freely around them, the result of this text is a 360 view of common family and personal problems. The dog, while unable to speak, tunes in very well to cues and undertones. Genius.

The text mentions tracks that I've either seen or heard about, which is very cool. And when the dog describes being in the car and the strategies of driving, I feel like I'm there too. =)

Storytelling and twisted humor at its finest! And I could totally see this happening to a shop dog, or child, at BMW:

"One tech guy in particular, Fenn... every time he walked by me he would ask: 'Are you done yet?' At first I had no idea what he was talking about, but I finally figured out that one of the shop's owners, Craig, spent most of his time asking if the techs were finished with their cars, and Fenn was just passing it down the line to the only one who ranks below him. Me."

Literature That Makes Me LOL

So on my lunch breaks I've been reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and last week I stumbled upon a gem of a passage. It made me laugh out loud, literally, in the lunchroom by myself. And I wasn't giggling, I was belting it out. I must make note of this and share. Fermin is the speaker, a reformed bum:

I'm not sure if finding this excerpt HILARIOUS requires familiarity with the character who explains it - but if anyone reads this damned thing, I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. LOL.

P.S. The book was very moving. I'm glad I dragged myself through the painfully slow beginning chapters of intricate back story because everything came together in the end. I laughed, I cried, and then I was left with a feeling of desolation. I found a smile again at the very end, and now I'm just confused. This is what great literature does to you - of this I am sure.

Taylor Swift: Fearless Tour 2010

So like, I'm in love. Taylor Swift is amazing!!!

She's such a phenomenal performer that pictures and words don't do her justice. I will definitely see her again in concert - she's a really lively entertainer and she's always moving, dancing, making jokes and saying cute things. It was surprising how many adults were in the audience though. The deafening high-pitched screams, however, were not surprising. The crowd was absolutely wild with excitement, and at one point there was 5-7 minutes of unbroken screaming and applause. She just stood there, taking it all in, the stars in her eyes. You could tell that she really loves the fans. And well, you can't not love her.

Fantastic show! And of course, the pictures, in reverse:

The grand finale, and last song, featured a thin waterfall which SPELLED OUT WORDS!! And drenched Taylor as she ended the show with a triumphant kneel, using her hands to shape a heart.

Bizarre drum solo, Taylor is on the right.

She knows what us 14 year old girls like. HEART-SHAPED CONFETTIS FOR EVERYONE!!!

She wore a Sharks jersey - my kind of girl.

Her "white dress", I was loving the hair.

LOVE STORY!!! My all-time fave of her songs!

They had old-time dancers do the intro for Love Story.

She came to the BACK of the arena for a few songs, smaller rotating stage.

She also walked around in the audience, free hugs!

YOU

BELONG

WITH ME!

Kelly Pickler opened for TS, with a broken ankle LOL

Alex & I

Taylor Swift & I =)

Such a great show. I was thoroughly impressed. Team Taylor!

Dumps Like a Truck - TRUCK, truck.

SO I've ALWAYS wanted to drive a big car!!! Like an SUV, or a truck, but I've never had the chance... until now.

On Monday, I borrowed Mary's full-sized Titan and I LOOOOOVED IT!!! So cool!!! It was so fun bouncing around on the freeway and there was so MUCH POWER. WOWWowowowwowowowow.

Look, the freakin' mirror is bigger than my head!!!! When I got back into my car I felt so... lowly... and less cool. LOL

Anyway, I got my furniture! No desk, but I got my dresser and bookcase for now. I haven't figured out how to mount the bookcase to my cement wall so I'm holding off on the doors at the moment. I've never had Ikea furniture before, and I didn't realize what a challenge the 6-drawer dresser would be. It was tiring, but now I like the dresser EVEN MORE because I MADE IT!

Now to spend the next few days cleaning out my closet. It feels great to have lots more room for my clothes =) And my books are all organized.... *sigh* life is good.

New Jams - Video Post

Today during the Sharks game, they TOTALLY played Scooter - Fire at the Colorado arena. That guy is f'ing crazy, and his trademark is screaming random phrases over his tracks. Totally miss this song, one of my all-time fave trance jams!

And also, I wanted to share these new songs. I like! :
