Recent Developments

So as it turns out, my first experience with golf was a stroke of beginner's luck. I went to the driving range Monday night, and realized that I've got a lot of work to do on my swing! BUT NO I AM NOT DISCOURAGED, I *WILL* KEEP TRYING =)

Last night I was also invited to join Yelp Elite. Yes, I know that Yelp is known for extorting money from businesses and I've heard the expression "White whine", but somehow I still feel.. special. Whoever thought of this Elite thing is a genius. So yeah, now I'm Elite. What's up beezies!!

This morning at my eye appointment, I was asked by both the optometry tech, and the ophthalmologist if I was there for color contacts... so I guess that means that I once had really, ridiculously, good-looking vision. Now I just have regular vision... that freaks me out. I'm glad that my vision is still considered "good" but I want it to be the way it was before!!!!!!!

I'm currently reading To Kill A Mockingbird, and I'm surprised I hadn't read it in my school curriculum, ever. I can see why it's a classic, I love the way the author portrays the innocence of youth and how the main family represents everything atypical of the times (politically, morally).

Today I also passed my Handgun Safety Test - finally! And then I went to the gym. Next I've got to do some research on handguns, and get in shape for Bay to Breakers! Also, ordering contacts tonight! I hope they restore my vision to what it used to be.

I Got Featured on Yelp!

I realize that a lot of people have probably gotten featured on the Yelp Weekly page, but I still think that this is SUPER COOL, and I only started Yelping two weeks ago! 5 stars for Yelp. =)

Bridges, Cupcakes, and Handcuffs

On Thursday at happy hour with Jon and Nick, I realized once again that I have no concept of drinking in moderation, or "sipping". We went to Ike's for a sober-up sandwich, then home. I stayed up way too late watching Fringe! Who can resist a series which is best described as Law & Order + Heroes??

I dropped B off at the Oakland airport early Friday morning then went to Hillsdale. I realized that I enjoy driving over the Bay Bridge best. OH how I miss driving back from Cal in traffic everyday and watching the ships at bay. I was SO unimpressed by the San Mateo bridge.

When I got into the mall, I was grossly surprised at how many people were waiting outside of stores for gates/doors to open.

I hit major traffic on my way back (I love SF), but luckily made it to work. Afterward, I came home to change and was off to Chris's surprise dinner at Hard Knox. Parking near Clement was such a challenge, especially because Rupert doesn't fit half of the spaces in Richmond.

I was falling asleep during dinner and the beer didn't help. Steph fed us ridiculously-good cupcakes. That didn't help either. I got super VIP parking at Supper Club afterward, but was still so exhausted that I ended up leaving early anyway. The highlight of the night HAD to be either 1) the boys trying to pole-dance, or 2)Gary getting handcuffed to the wall. Even though I got home early, I stayed up to Yelp. Damn me.

Working Saturday mornings is always somewhat of a dread. And I always eat one too many doughnuts, and drink one too many cups of coffee. Now here I am, crashing, and too drained to party on. It'll be nice though, for once, to stay in on a Saturday.

The Yelp Effect

I was planning to sleep at midnight. I was literally ready to pass out but had the sudden urge to start a Yelp account. Two hours later, I've got 12 reviews! I don't know what it is about Yelp that is so addicting, but now I see why any given restaurant has 400+ reviews. I used to think that Yelpers were complainers, but I'm finding myself mostly rating my favorite venues and eateries. This can't become a habit, and I'm starting to think that joining Yelp was a mishap. I should have been studying!
