Milkquarious - Do the Dairy

http://www.milkquarious.com/#/rock-opera/normal-mode

I came across the new Got Milk? campaign because my co-worker saw a commercial with the cownicorn named BOVINA, which he mistakened for BOBINA (my nickname). I couldn't find the video on Youtube so I ended up on the movie website and I have to admit that this campaign is really well-done. The scenes are ridiculously entertaining, as are the costumes, sets, and songs. So satisfyingly bizarre and eccentric - my favorite scene is with the furry tumbleweed-like monsters. F'ING HILARIOUS!!!

SPORTS!!! And Halloweek!

The other day I found cat ears from a Halloween costume of four years past. And I've been wearing them since! I feel like I'd like to wear them every day.. not just during the week of Halloween.. and I especially like wearing them at work. =)

Anyway, tonight I watched the Sharks game with Alex and it went into overtime AND THEN IT WENT INTO A SHOOT OUT!!! And we won in the 6th round!!! YEAH! It was so f'ing exciting that I seriously couldn't breathe. And during the breaks we switched back to the Warriors game, which was also a pretty good game - except the Warriors lost by 1 in the end. Oy vey! But I got to see Jackson score a few points - my fave! That was three hours of professional sporting goodness. WOOT.

Feeling Like A Fatty

I went to San Tung for dinner last night, it was my first time. Everything tastes so good in that gooey fried chicken sauce, like RIDICULOUSLY GOOD! I thought the crispy part of the chicken kind of tasted like pork rinds? V did the ordering, and we also got the potstickery things and the string beans. Those were delicious too, but probably because they came into contact with that secret sauce on my plate. SO- now I've seen what all the hype is about! The only thing that didn't look so good was the peanut noodles.

And THEN the night before that, I went to Joy Sushi in San Mateo with Dom & B and I don't think they liked it. Oh well, I still like it. LOL. And on top of that, yesterday for lunch I had Little Luccas with Julian. And on top of THAT last night for midnight snack I had In & Out.

ALL OF THE EATING AND NONE OF THE WORKING OUT!!!!!! Well, at least I got some studying done.

The Yelp Effect

I was planning to sleep at midnight. I was literally ready to pass out but had the sudden urge to start a Yelp account. Two hours later, I've got 12 reviews! I don't know what it is about Yelp that is so addicting, but now I see why any given restaurant has 400+ reviews. I used to think that Yelpers were complainers, but I'm finding myself mostly rating my favorite venues and eateries. This can't become a habit, and I'm starting to think that joining Yelp was a mishap. I should have been studying!

Warriors, Indians, & Divas

Thursday night I went to Warriors vs. Hornets at Oracle and I was DELIGHTED that we won! I love when the Warriors win, even if it's just pre-season. I couldn't see who was who because we weren't lower level this time, but Henry gave me adequate updates and I enjoyed my beer and garlic fries and nachos. YUM! I think it's sad that my vision is going... and I really don't want to get glasses but I will have to eventually. I can't go to sporting events if I'm sitting far away, because it becomes a moot point. I'm excited for this season though, and am probably going to get a new jersey seeing as Jackson may not be around.

After the game I came home and watched The Kingdom before bed. I had seen it before but didn't remember too many of the details. That movie is depressing, but so deeply moving - definitely worth a second watch. That night I ended up having a nightmare about being a princess in an Indian kingdom who is sentenced to death. The kingdom, however, was a large playground with bungalows! Somehow I was able to escape and get across the street, but as it turns out, I'm stuck behind the king and queen who are sitting on lawn chairs on the sidewalk and would spot me at any moment. I don't remember the rest of the dream, but I know that's when I woke up. STRANGE!!!

Last night I went to Richard's birthday dinner at Korean Village (which I was calling Korea Town). The food was good and it was nice to see everyone, but I either had too much to eat or too much to drink because I was STUFFED. Charles gave out the most ridiculous invitations for his birthday party (1 1/2 months from now), in which I am declared the VP of Guest Inebriation. I think that's a pretty fitting role for me, and I can't wait to see how EXTRAVAGANT the 2009 Diva Edition will be.

Crustacean & Costumes

Tonight I had one of the BEST DINNERS EVER! Julian and I were browsing Urban Spoon (LOL) and came across CRUSTACEAN! We both had heard lots about the place, so we decided to go. The food was so delicious... we had Crab Puffs, Grilled Calamari, Roasted Crab, and Saigon Beef. Everything was good, even the garlic rice and Bellini Martinis! I don't usually eat crab because it requires so much effort, but this was worth it. And the bibs DEFINITELY came in handy! I can't believe we both hadn't been before, it was such a treat! We noticed that the famous neon crab sign above the elevator was dying =( and we reminisced seeing that sign as children... we're getting old. We actually did a lot of reminiscing over dinner, and I had a really awesome time catching up. The service was great, and it was much more dressy than I had anticipated - luckily we were well-dressed. Good food, good service, and great company. I had so much fun! This is now one of my fave restaurants, and I rarely LOVE restaurants.

Later on at night I was summoned for the brainstorming of Halloween costumes, and when I got downstairs Dom & B were wearing some ridiculous children-sized duck and fireman Walmart costumes - IT WAS HILARIOUS!!! I've decided to be a sailor for Halloween, and together with V (and some others hopefully) we can do the Village People theme.

Law Abiding Citizen & Becoming Wiser

I saw Law Abiding Citizen earlier tonight and I thought it was a PHENOMENAL movie. I won't spoil - I'll just say it's about a man consumed by revenge and I la-la-LOVE it. When people get what they deserve and consequences are forced upon them, it makes me feel like there is hope for righteousness. I highly recommend!

I also got my snow pants today, they fit perfectly and are super cute. I'm excited! This almost makes up for my failed Poison Ivy costume.

As for making better decisions, I resumed my GMAT studies today and I've realized that it has been at least two months (maybe three) since I've smoked a cigarette. AND I have no desire to! I also started wearing my seat belt in July, and plan to keep it up forever! ;) I'm getting older AND wiser!

Mr. Arai, Butterfly & Ivy Madness

Love this song:

Yesterday, the last descendant of the Arai family came by to visit our shop!! He is definitely a celebrity in the motorcycle industry - Arai being a top helmet producer, and the only which is still family-owned. Cool!

At night I went to Butterfly with V and Dom for Corinna's birthday. When we got there, the line was being held because they had "hit capacity". They distributed flyers for another party nearby, and I suspect it was a cunning ploy to draw support for their secondary event. We got in 30 minutes later. Corinna had a really good time, as did we.

Today I went to eat egg noodles with Dom & B in TL, and then V and I went shopping for FOUR HOURS! We were in and out of craft stores piecing together Halloween costumes. Her Indian (the feather kind) costume will be great. I, on the other hand, am struggling with my Poison Ivy costume because my plans have been foiled by the limited capabilities of fabric dye. My long green gloves and a kelly green corset are out the window! I'm out of ideas.

Bouldering & Mr. Smith's

Last night was some FANTASTIC BOULDERING FUN at Mission Cliffs! This was my first time and I guess I just hadn't ever realized how much upper body strength it takes to climb. I was able to complete the beginner sections of the rock wall, but I couldn't do much more - I need to work on my strength instead of just doing cardio at the gym. Using chalk and tape reminded me of gymnastics, oh how I miss gymnastics. The highlight of the night was when I fell off of the wall and clipped Kevin when I landed. And then he apologized for biting me, and I was like "Uh did you bite yourself? Because you didn't bite me..." and then we stood there looking for bite marks while laughing hysterically.

Afterwards, V and I went to Mr. Smith's. I had a difficult time putting on my make-up because my arms were so drained from climbing! I like the club venue, but I hate the location. And the alley where we were waiting in line smelled like a port-o-pottie. That's freakin' disgusting!!!! Other than that I had a jolly good time, and will consider going again someday.

Harmony in C (And Snow Gear)

I had a tough day today, so I bought myself new snowboarding boots and pants. They both match my board, which is a first! Alex taught me to justify buying expensive clothing by wearing an item its worth in dollars - the cost being $1 each time. Snowboard gear is a bit different though, and it's difficult to justify my 3rd pair of boots in 3 seasons. Although, in my defense, this time around I disregarded price and paid much more attention to what I REALLY want and how delicious things look. Because of this, I won't be replacing my boots or pants in a long time. See - I've found a legitimate upside to the madness of retail therapy.

Gloom, Procrastination & Dread

I'm not sure if it's the weather, or the fact that I've been listening to the Metric album on repeat - but gloom is seeping out of me.

Rain reminds me of Beyonce's Sweet Dreams:

I'm mid-way through Season 3 of 24 and still intrigued as ever. Chloe's humor makes up for the stunted momentum, and I'm excited that Sherry and Nina are back - conniving women are absolutely key. On another note, I've decided I cannot further delay my GMAT studies and have resolved to resume Monday. I have a lot of material to get through, even though I pretend like I don't. Oh math, how you vex me so.

BootieBootieBootieBootie, Rockin' Everywhere!

Last night was Chad's birthday at Bootie. My getup was not as piratey as I had visualized - corset with skinny jeans and knee-high boots. I forget who told me pirate ladies wear corsets, but I'm pretty sure they don't. I couldn't breathe normally, nor could I bend because of the boning. But aside from being restricting, it looked good. I decided not to wear an eye patch, but I did curl my hair and wear hoop earrings! On the way, Jon and I were trying to talk like pirates. THAT DIDN'T WORK OUT SO WELL but it was pretty damned funny! I had inventory at the crack of dawn this morning, and THAT didn't work out well AT ALL. I ended up only lasting three hours, the drive home was gruesome.

Spontaenous Soju & Catnapping

My friends showed up at my place and forced me out, damn them. Whenever this happens I wonder how they'll react the day I really don't come down LOL. We went to Playground where we were served corn with mayo as an appetizer, strange. The honey chicken was tasty, the potstickers were greasy. Everything seemed outrageously overpriced, but then again I don't usually eat at bars so I could be wrong. The Soju was yummy and I ended up having fun even though I started out a bit hostile.

SHARKS, SHARKS, SHARKSHARKSHARKSHARKS!

My first SHARKS game at Alex's! Hockey is A-MA-ZING!! As soon as the game started I was thoroughly captivated. I love how fast and action-packed hockey is. Fighting may be the best part, although Heatley's penalty shot was insanely INTENSE. I can't wait to go to a game, and I know there will be more hockey nights to come. Hurray for new interests, and awesome friends to enjoy them with!!

P.S. I got a chrome-splinter today at work. I think this further demonstrates how accident-prone I am. Cursed panda.

Castro Street Fair 2009

I had to choose between Bluegrass in GGP and the Castro Street fair today, luckily I chose Castro and got a little bit of country anyway! I want to learn how to line dance..

I got a sticker for making a donation! I also won a fake tattoo from the Monterey Bay Aquarium booth (the lamest prize possible). Candace won a paperweight so I took it! We had a beer each and walked around. The live entertainment was cool and the small stages were even cooler. There was a little rave area in one of the parking lots and the deejay was great! Other than being ridiculously cold today, it was a grand time!

Deeply Rooted : 5

At dinner, my mother mentioned that my great grandmother was a seamstress and she worked at a Navy uniform factory in Hawaii. Then the conversation led to counting generations - and my brother and I hadn't realized that we actually are 5th generation Americans! I thought I was 4th maybe, and my brother had always assumed that he was 3rd.

This really goes to show how little we know about our genealogy.
