Another crazy Thursday - Zuppa, Yan's, and then Holy Cow. Again. At Zuppa I had 24 oysters, for $12. See - this is another instance exemplifying my struggle with the concept of moderation. At Yan's we planned a bbq at Pat's for tomorrow! And then Holy Cow was hot, and full of familiar drunks as always.
Friday I stayed in and watched the second half of 30 Rock, season 1. I'm enjoying it so much that I'd rather watch than go out, LOL. One of my favorite moments thus far:
Saturday, after work, Julian and I had dinner at Kabuto (Joe's rec) and it was actually really savory, fresh, fish. We were talking about how we always go to sunset for sushi because it's convenient, even though the sushi isn't that "good" per se. Creatures of habit we once were, explorers we are!
Afterward, I hung out with Bryant for a little before Charles picked me up. And then we were off! To Bo's friend's place for pre-game before heading to the Marina. There happened to be a doll there, of the Vancouver Olympic mascot Mukmuk. Somehow by the end of the night that became my new nickname.
Then, today, I woke up for the WSBK at Philip Island, until I realized the gold medal US/CAN hockey game was on!! 1st period was boring but 2nd picked up and 3rd was INTENSE!! We lost, but meh 'twas a good game.
Bryant and Dom came upstairs with beers during OT and then after we finished the game we went to see Shutter Island. I nodded off many times, and eventually just slept 15-20 minutes near the end. That movie was a waste of time, and I would not recommend anyone see it in theaters. We picked up pizza afterward and then headed home to watch 24. I've been watching a lot of stuff lately.. I should probably reset my goals. In time though, in time.
Step to the beat of my heart - a California whirlwind ripping through the Pacific Northwest.

Gym Tour & Travel Plans
One of my unofficial new years resolutions was to tour the 24 hour fitness locations, and I've made progress recently! Yesterday, after a guilty dinner at San Mateo Prime, Julian and I went to the 24 on El Camino. It was okay. I'd give it the same rating that I would give to... the Ocean location in SF. Then today, after work, we went to the Montgomery 24, and it was SO F'ING NICE! Like ridiculously nice! Like the women's locker room had back-lit vanity mirrors and super fancy SHOWERS! They even had pay-use lockers in addition to the regular lockers.
There was a lounge area with leather couches and a TV. And the women's locker room had it's own tv. The lockers were wood-grain and not the cheap plywood lockers the other locations have. The water fountains had ICE-COLD water, and there were just SO FREAKIN' MANY MACHINES!! Most of all, the gym felt CLEAN!! This gym is fucking classy, and it's going to be my new default location. Like a kid in a candy shop.
I'm doing pretty well with my gym routine, and I feel great. I can tell that my endurance is improving because I can run 5 minutes without wheezing now. I just have to cut back on binge-eating. Today after we worked out, we ate at Naan 'N Curry LOL.
So last night, as I was getting ready to book a trip to Egypt, I stumbled upon a flurry of horror stories about how dirty, polluted, and dangerous Egypt can be. From food-poisoning, to irresponsible guides and broken toilets/AC at hotels and tourist spots, EVERYTHING has gone wrong for someone. I'm having second and third thoughts about Egypt, and am considering somewhere safer like Europe...

I Eated the Crawfishes
Spectacular weather today!! I headed to the gym when I woke up, but decided to drive around because it was so sunny =) I went to Serramonte and did some shopping, and then went to Hillsdale for more shopping! I bought my mama some See's candies and she was SO delighted when she got them, I felt fantastic.
I only bought a few things from today but when I was at Hillsdale I hung out with Joe on his lunch break and we got to catch up.
Then I headed back to SF to workout. After my usual cardio fix I picked up Julian and we ate THE CRAWFISH!!!! I've never had crawfish, and it was a lot of work for a spicy reward. We were talking about how much of a waste eating crawfish is, because there's so little meat. IT WAS GOOD THOUGH, and quite the experience! I likes me some crawdaddies ;]

Blood Obsessions
After quite the HH on Thursday, I ended up staying home Friday and Saturday and having a nice quiet weekend to myself. I got a lot of Dexter-watching done, in fact I finished Season 1. There was a ton of character development in Season 1, and I really should have watched this series in order. At least I understand the backstories now, and if Netflix would let me watch Season 3 I probably would continue. Dexter is such a morbid and twisted series, I love it.
During lunch today, I was flipping through channels and the only movie that had JUST started was TWILIGHT. I knew nothing about it aside from the parodies and jokes I've seen and I have to admit, I can see what all the fuss was about. That movie is THE modern day princess fairytale, and no one can deny the novelty of falling in love with a VAMPIRE!!! A good-hearted vampire at that - and one who just wants to save your life and watch you sleep. I have yet to see New Moon, but I don't think anything can change the fact that I am in love with Edward and everything he stands for.

Motion City Soundtrack Concert!!!
After work today I went straight to Regency for the MCS concert! There wasn't much of a line, and we didn't care for the opening acts so we ate at Village Pizzeria across the street. The pizza took FOREVER, but it was some good eatin'.
By the time we got into the concert, the first band was finishing. They were o-k. Then ANOTHER cover band came on and played for a good 30 minutes. When they finally finished we were so psyched about MCS coming on stage! BUT THEN ANOTHER COVER BAND CAME ON!!! WTF!!!! So frustrating. The concert started at 6:30 and MCS didn't show until 9...
When MCS finally took the stage, they were amazing. Great band to see live, and the moshpit was swelling. There's something invigorating about moshing, even though I realize it's barbaric and elicits violence. Lots of tall people there but we kept pushing around so I had a pretty good view. For the last few songs I moved to the back to get air, and water. Definitely wasn't as good as The Offspring, or Shiny Toy Guns, but I had a good time.
And then, since I was all sweaty anyway, I went to the gym. It is Tuesday and all, and I'm committed to my workout schedule!

Modern Family
Somebody had a case of the Mondays! But it wasn't me. =)
I started my day off working out. I met Julian at the gym and then we wanted to go to Little Lucca's but they ran out of bread. >=[ I bought SNACKS at Target! Since we were at Serramonte we did HH at Barracuda. MMm they serve their oysters on a half-shell with TOBIKO! Their sushi HH is sooo cheap, it's ridics.
The rest of my day consisted of Modern Family, and, Modern Family. I watched all of Season 1 today, with the exception of the first episode which I watched late last night (technically still today). I really love the characters in that show, especially the balances and imbalances between the members of the family. Gloria, the passionate Columbian gold-digger is SO tantalizingly entertaining. And the gay couple - don't get me started.

Un-Vday Weekend & Chad Returns
Friday night, Julian and I went to Yancy's and met up Alex Chad Henry and Andrew. It was also Derek's bday and there were plenty of HS friends there. I also saw brothers that I used to do lion dancing with! Yeah, a lot of awkward hellos. A reminder that our high school reunion is only 4 years away...
Saturday, for lunch, Priscilla picked me up so we could get hot pastrami sandos at M&L Market! Oh and it was SO GOOD! Dom and Bryant came too but I only saw them briefly. We met up a bunch of other people and ate at Brian's, but I couldn't stay long =(. I didn't want to leave! The downfalls of working Saturdays...
After work, I hung out downstairs until Julian picked me up for Anna's bday at Sip. We ended up at Bamboo Hut a few blocks down (shit hole). Lots more high school friends, but thankfully these WEREN'T awkward hellos =]
This morning I went downstairs to make breakfast burritos with Dom & Bryant, mmm. We watched Valentine's Day at Kabuki and I really liked the movie! I'll admit that the acting wasn't spectacular but I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and the intertwined plot-lines. I also watched Jennifer's Body (great movie) and 500 Days of Summer - during which I fell asleep.
Charles came over after I finished Season 1 of Community, and we watched the Olympics and talked for a whopping 4 hours. It really was a nice chat, about life, career, family etc.
For a day I usually dread, V-day 2010 wasn't so bad.

Resolution Reversal & Sedaris
So, I haven't completed any of my New Years resolutions. And well, I've resolved to stop trying. I never did yoga or the volunteering, and the screenplay writing class didn't stick.
But, there are consolations. For two weeks now, I've gone to the gym M/T/W, and I feel stupendous. I plan to keep this up! And I've also been reading David Sedaris, which is LAUGH-OUT-LOUD hilarious, and I mean that in the most literal sense. I'm just about done with Me Talk Pretty One Day, and halfway through Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. The reading is casual yet intensely entertaining, I highly recommend.
I've been keeping my weekdays busy by exercising, reading, hockey/bball games, and TV shows by the season. I just got the rest of Community (thanks Alex!) and will probably start Modern Family thereafter. I leave the weekend for partying of course, and do it all over again and again.
P.S. I'm still a duck
And last night I got some cool foot tattoos

My Lucky Weekend
Saturday was a good day. I woke up late but got to work JUST in the nick of time. My co-worker's baby came to visit!
Dinner with Brom and then Infusion for Rebecca's birthday. I got parking ridiculously close, CORNER STATUS. And then, the door lady let me and Alex in for frees!
AND THEN!!! I met a girl with the same name!!!! I have two name twins =) My life is like... complete now.
What an awesome phenomenon, to FINALLY meet someone with the same name as yours after 23.6 years..
With the Saints Superbowl win today I am now 4 for 4 with football bets against my brother. I redeemed a win today and got a big bucket of POPEYES Louisiana chicken, how fitting! GG
I finished GLEE today also. The season was amazing, and the ending did every character justice. I can't wait for next season..

HH x3 & Glee
Soo Thursday was a really long day. After work I met people at Chaya Brasserie for HH! We had sushi, garlic fries, sake, and cocktails. Everything, including service, was good. By the time we left it was POURING, and then we moved the party to Yan's. I suggested we mix the pineapple with lychee soju, and it was a wonderful creation! I'll name it.. the Sweet Phantasy
I catnapped before Cow, then saw A LOT of people there, and it was ridiculously fun. Carls Jr. with Bryant and Dom (Brom) after and then sleeep. Diet fail, but at least my night was a workout.
I spent tonight getting halfway through Season 1 of Glee. The show is awesome, very much like a musical, and the vocal talent is impressive. I love the song selections and awkward characters. Lots of funny moments and very moving at times.
Plenty more fun to come this busy weekend. And in the words of Ke$ha, "Wanna dance, with no pants on, holler!"

Getting In Touch With My Identity
So I finally finished The Far Pavillions! All 957 pages of dramatic glory, in about a week. I can FINALLY say that I've read the novel that my name comes from, which is something that I've put off for far too long.
And an epic story it was: While Anjuli is a wholesome, faithful, beautiful and highly commendable character, she lives most of her life shut-away, alone, unappreciated, despised, and mistreated. Only in the last segment is she freed from her horrific life as a half-caste princess in a highly traditional culture, and lives happily ever after with her savior, and coincidentally the love of her life (Ashton). I enjoyed the vivid and dramatic episodes of scandal within the kingdoms much moreso than the British battle/war stories, but all in all, definitely a great read.
Also, according to this, my doppelganger is Portia Derossi. Uhh, well I like her jacket. LOL
